MAKE-UP
GUIDE
|
Women
have been adorning themselves with make-up and colour for
centuries, both to hide imperfections and to enhance our
natural looks and make us feel more attractive. If like most
women, your make-up bag consists of various old favourite
items, along with a couple of new things you may have added
recently, it might be time to update and refresh, with basics
that are in tune with the look you now want to present and
that are the base of any style of make-up. At PURE
we have put together the top six must-have items that any
woman should have in her make-up bag ...
|
FOUNDATION
Designed
to even out your skin tone and cover up blemishes in your skin, your
foundation is the base for the rest of your make-up and should be
matched to your skin tone.
Tip:
Avoid pink-toned foundations which make your face look redder than
it naturally is. Instead, go for beige or white foundations - don't
worry about looking washed out, that's what your blusher is for!
Blush Use to emphasise your cheek bones, a couple of different
blushes in your make-up bag are perfect. One shade for a more
natural look during the day and the other could be a more vibrant
shade for evenings.
BLUSH
Use
to emphasise your cheek bones, a couple of different blushes in your
make-up bag are perfect. One shade for a more natural look during
the day and the other could be a more vibrant shade for evenings.
Tip:
A cream blusher is perfect for during the day as it leaves a subtle
shade on the cheeks, whereas a brighter pink powdered blush is great
for going out at night.
EYE
SHADOW
If
you use a palette of eye shadows, your make-up bag will remain
uncluttered giving you a palette of colour options to work with.
Tip:
If you are a redhead, the best colours for you are bronze/gold
colours,
burgundys
and ice pinks. For blonde ladies the best colours to make the most
of your eyes are dusty whites and dark greys, and deep purple will
make the most of your fair hair and skin. The best colours for
brunettes are dusty blues and dark golds, and golden creams will
bring out the best of your dark features.
MASCARA
Mascara
is necessary to define, thicken and lengthen your eyelashes - the
perfect finishing touch for any make-up!
Tip:
For a more dramatic look to your eyes, black mascara is the best
colour to go for - apply a couple of coats to get a really dramatic
look. Through the day or for a lighter make-up, then brown is
better.
EYELINER
To
really define your eyes, eyeliner is a key product. Choose a colour
that matches your eye shadow.
Tip:
Depending on the look you are trying to achieve, your eyeliner may
be as subtle or as bold as you like. Most commonly available are
liquid eyeliners, applied with a thin brush to achieve a dramatic
look. They are also available in a variety of colours for those who
don’t like eye shadow. Kohl liners are also popular. These can be
smudged to create a more subtle look, but are mostly available in
darker colours. Both types are versatile for day and night looks.
LIPSTICK
Adds
a splash of colour and emphasises your lips - also a great base to
finish off with a gloss on top.
Tip:
Redheads should look out for peach and coral colours for the lips;
blondes will most suit rich pinks and purple pinks. Brunettes can
carry off darker colours such as reds and plums but can also work
with more neutral corals too.
